West Head, Looking East

A cool day with very flat light. The colours of the barrens aren't as brilliant as they were a week or so ago, but they're still quite wonderful.

These watercolours are getting less and less successful. I don't know if this is because I'm not as loose and free as I was at the start, or if I'm trying compositions that are more and more difficult to render well. It may just be one of those times when everything I try seems to fall far, far short. (This doesn't bother me. If I don't paint awful stuff periodically, I start to worry. It usually means that I'm coasting, no longer pushing myself and risking failure.)
